What's new in White Valhalla Wolves?

After much consideration, we have made the final decision to withdraw Bifrost from the breeding program. Bisia has never had puppies and never will. We gave her time to mature, thinking she simply needed a little more time, but unfortunately, time is not an issue.

She is one of our most anatomically correct female dogs—with a beautiful, harmonious silhouette, excellent movement, a very attractive head, and a perfect coat. Her pigment, fur structure, and exceptionally light coloring have always been her greatest strengths.

Bisia also enjoys excellent health, confirmed by perfect joint examination results, and she has repeatedly proven her class in the show ring: she is Polish Junior Champion, Polish Junior Winner 2023, and won Best of Breed at her last show.

At the same time, temperament is just as important a selection factor as anatomy or health. Unfortunately, Bisia doesn't meet our criteria in this area—she is a fearful and reactive female. We want the White Swiss Shepherd to develop into well-balanced, confident, and emotionally stable dogs. We can't say with full certainty that the next generation will be like this.
Even the best dogs can pass on traits to their offspring that we don't want to perpetuate. Temperament is largely inherited, although the mechanism is still not fully understood—so in this particular situation, we can't take the risk. (...)

What's with all this puppy-in-a-stroller stuff?

What's this whole "puppy-in-a-stroller" thing about puppies? We've heard a few theories, most often from people passing us on the street who comment and ask.

"Are they for sale?"

And although in theory they are, we always answer "no" – firstly, at this age, they're already reserved and eagerly awaited, and secondly, some people think they're just in a shop window, and you can just walk up to them and choose one.

This is one of the stages of habituation, the gradual familiarization with the stimuli (...)

White Swiss Shepherd breed description

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to update the description of the White Swiss Shepherd Dog breed on our website. I decided to share it here too and ask if you agree with it from your own experiences :)

"White Swiss Shepherds are dogs that are eager to cooperate and learn. Their relatively high energy level requires proper management - regular training, consistency in handling, mental activity (e.g. nosework), a large dose of exercise.

Depending on the breeding line, association or individual issue, this energy level will vary, but shepherds are not really "couch potatoes" who only need a lazy walk. Properly handled, they can be a great family dog, and their versatility allows you to try different sports with them. Some individuals, with good training, can even count on success in many sports.

They are said to be a sensitive breed - which on the one hand means empathy for the current condition of their handler, great attachment to their human and sometimes also great tenderness. On the other hand, it may mean that these dogs require thoughtful socialization, not being thrown into extremely difficult situations right from the start. From our observations, it follows that most of them are however, balanced and self-confident dogs, at least where attention is paid to the temperament of the parents and the proper socialization of the puppies.
